Join the Senior Section: Where Golf meets Great Company and Good Times!
ETHOS
The Senior Section is open to those aged 55 and over. We are dedicated to...
fostering camaraderie, inclusivity, and enjoyment through the game of golf. Our main goals are to provide a welcoming environment where members can share in friendly competition, improve their skills, and build lasting friendships. We value the spirit of sportsmanship, respect for all players, and the joy of being part of a supportive community. Whether through our regular Monday competitions, inter-club matches, or social gatherings, we strive to make every member feel valued and ensure their golfing experience is both fulfilling and fun.
MONDAYS
Varied start to your week
Mondays are the heart of our Senior Section, filled with friendly competition and banter. Each week, we come together for a scheduled competition or one of the Captain's fun ‘games of the day.' Not sure how a particular game works? Don't worry - we'll explain everything you need to know so you can dive right in.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The day kicks off with a pack of cards!
They help select a random order of play, so you can meet new friends. The Captain leads the first group to the tee. After your round, simply enter your score into the computer, hand your signed card to the Competition Secretary, and pay your modest entry fees: just £1.50 for the competition and 50p for the Two's. Results are announced once everyone has submitted their scores, so stick around to celebrate the day's winners!
TIMINGS THAT WORK FOR YOU
We meet bright and early...
At 9am (9:30 in winter). Write your name on the start sheet in the Pro Shop. Most days, we wrap up between 2pm and 3pm, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the rest of your day.
Need to leave earlier? No problem! Ask the Competition Secretary for an early draw, and you'll be among the first to tee off. After playing your round, posting your score, and paying your £2, you can head off guilt-free after a quick word with the Captain.
WINNINGS
Play well, get rewarded
Many of our competitions have prize money for first, second, third, etc. Collect your winnings as the results are announced.MATCHES
Take on Other Clubs
Summer brings friendly home-and-away matches against nearby clubs, offering you the chance to play on other courses for free! Enjoy tea or coffee beforehand and a delicious two-course meal after the game for a reasonable cost (usually no more than £15).
Look for match availability sheets on the noticeboard, sign up to play, and - if selected - confirm your spot by ticking your name. Regular attendees of Monday competitions and matches are given priority in team selection.
To look the part, we encourage senior colours. As a welcome we'll give you a £5 refund on your first purchase from the Pro Shop.
STAY IN THE LOOP
We'll keep you updated throughout the year via email and phone, ensuring you're always informed about competitions, matches, and events. Send an email to editor@teetalk.uk asking to be added to the seniors' email list.
To be fair to everyone, your handicap is meant to reflect your ability, and it can change after every competition. If you think your handicap is too high or too low, talk to the handicap secretary. The easiest way to stay up to date is by registering with www.howdidido.co.uk (speak to the club secretary for more information) - it's free and keeps you updated on results and handicap changes via email.
INCREDIBLE VALUE
Just £10 a year, but more in benefits
Annual membership costs only £10, covering October through September. This small fee opens the door to subsidised events, great golf, and a host of other benefits - often paying for itself many times over.

A FINAL REQUEST
Play Considerately & Smartly
We know that age can sometimes slow us down - whether it's searching for a wayward ball, taking an extra swing, or the ravages of old age and ill health. That's okay! Just do your best to keep up with the group in front.
If you can't, invite others to play through if needed. It's all part of keeping the game enjoyable for everyone.
